Marvel’s Thunderbolts* It is easily one of the best Marvel films that will have been released for a long time, in fact, I would say that it is easily one of the best films of the year! At least, I think it is! I came out of the theater with that feeling that I hadn’t had for a long time from a Marvel film, I was stunned.
For me, this film hit all the right notes. Great history, strong development of the character, an exceptional script, killer action sequences and some of the best performances that MCU has offered over the years.
This is the aspect of high -level Marvel narration! Honestly, if you were waiting for that spark to come back, the one we all tried during Marvel’s top years, that’s all.
I know many people are already saying that it is the best Marvel movie since then Avengers: endgameAnd I completely agree. But for me personally, Captain America: The Winter Soldier It has always been my Gold Standard e Thunderbolts* It is located right next to it. I couldn’t be happier than it turned out to be.
While the film is full of intense actions and a ton of fun and comic moments, what really attracted me were the emotional layers integrated in every character. The film digs deep into who these characters are and what weighs them.
There is a strong attention to mental health that seemed genuine and honest, something that is often not managed with so much care in superhero films. He made the story much more personal and significant.
Thunderbolts* Spend time to explore the trauma, as a model people, how they persecute them and how they face (or do not do it). Each character has to do with a sort of darkness and the way the film allows each of them to elaborate that, sometimes ugly, sometimes stimulating, has given a real emotional weight to all. He didn’t just ask me to cheer for them as heroes, he asked me to understand them as people.
It is disordered, it is painful, and is managed with a surprising quantity of care. Looking at these characters to try to get out of their own darkness has made Earth even more difficult because you really care what is at stake for them personally.
Another thing I loved is how the film kept the smaller things of scale, but it was great because of what the characters were facing emotionally. It is not a question of saving the world from destruction, it is about saving each other.
The villain, Bob (Aka The Sentry, aka the void), is managed in a way that seems completely fresh. Without giving anything, it is not the type of climatic battle you would expect from Marvel. He is smarter, more psychological and has made history even more difficult. It was a creative risk and paid absolutely.
The story is set in a world without Avengers, there is still a need for heroes … or at least something similar. Enter the Thunderbolts, Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster and Us Agent, a group of misunderstood disillusionments together by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
After being trapped in a brutal configuration from Val it, they are forced to a mission that challenges them to destroy themselves or find a way to build something better. He is intense, funny and full of moments of the character who actually attack.
As for the cast, they threw it out of the park. Florence Pugh I gave his best performance Marvel, but like Yelena, very leaning on the emotional scars of her past. It was fantastic in this movie!
Sebastian Stan It was phenomenal as Bucky, David Harbor they brought the great comic moments and Hannah John-Kamen, Wyatt Russell, Lewis Pullman, Julia Louis -drefusAND Olga Kurylenko Everyone also brought their A-Game.
Director Jake Schreier and writers Eric Pearson AND Kurt Busiek Clearly he poured a lot of heart in this film and proves it. Applaudo to the creative team for giving us a Marvel movie that is not just good … it’s fantastic!
