The retro trailer of this week is for the classic low budget science fiction action movie of 1998 Mandroidproduced by Full Moon Entertainment.
Set in a secret laboratory in depth in Russia, the story follows Dr. Karl Zimmer, a scientist who invents a powerful robotic exiosuit called Mandroide. Designed for peace and humanitarian aid, the cause quickly becomes a goal for military exploitation.
When the assistant of Dr. Zimmer, the dragon plot, tries to steal the technology for his profit, a violent accident leaves him disfigured and vindictive, transforming him into the bad of the film.
The film then moves to a battle button against evil, with Zimmer, his daughter Zana and an American CIA agent named Wade who tries to prevent Dragon from unleashing the chaos. Mandroide’s suit becomes both a tool and a weapon in this struggle.
The film is full of visual effects of cheese, a classic crazy scientist atmosphere and a dose of paranoia of the cold war. It is a fun slice of the early 90s of direct science fiction to the video that embraces its camps Campy.
