The fall of Daenerys or the surprise coronation of Bran are the broken ones landed better if they had more space to breathe? More likely. But at that point, Martin had already moved away from the show, returning to the books that he tried to finish for years and other projects.
What is even more telling is what Martin said in those last seasons. Speaking in 2022, he said:
“I had no contribution to the following seasons except, you know, invent the world, history and all the characters. I think I have more influence now than he has done in the original show.”
