Samuel Goldwyn Films has published the trailer of the film Horror Aboriginal from Australia, Moogaiwhich was previewed in the midnight section during the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.
This is a chilling supernatural film, and tells the story of a young Aboriginal couple who just had their first child, “but what should be one of the happiest moments of their life turns into terror when Sarah starts seeing a malicious spirit he believes he is trying to take his child.
“Her husband Fergus desperately wants to believe them, but as it becomes more unstable, is it increasingly worried about the safety of their child. Sarah is really visited by a spirit that steals children or is it the greatest threat to the safety of their family?”
The film is based on the award -winning short film, Moogai And “explores post-natural depression, transgenerational trauma and the stolen generation of Australia. But it is also a history of the value of children and the power of the family”.
I said in my review: “Moogai It thrives on creating a sense of discomfort that remains during the film. The parents are immersed in a whirlwind of horrors and the audience is right there with them, living their torment. It is a horror thriller of psychological folklore that opts for a slow combustion approach, constantly increasing the tension until it reaches a heartbeat climax.
The film is the protagonist Shari Sebbens, Meyne Wyatt, Tessa Rose, Clarence Ryanwith Toby Leonard Moore AND Beautiful heathcote.
Moogai It will be released in selected theaters and on VOD starting from 9 May 2025.
