Alan Cumming states that the new make -up process to become NightCrawler for Avengers: DoomsDay is “a turning point”

Alan Cumming Famous played by Kurt Wagner, aka Nightcrawler, in the 2003 film X2: X-Men UnitedBut despite being asked to return for the next franchise film, Cumming has decreased due to the arduous four -hour task in the make -up chair every morning.

So some were surprised when it was announced that the actor would return with some of his co-protagonists of the next Marvel Event film, Avengers: Doomsday.

Cumming told Collider of his return: “Isn’t it crazy? I am excited and amazed. 23 years have passed since I was a superhero. I already had some make -up tests for the role, but the fantastic thing was that before it was about 4 and a half hours to apply it, but now they are only 90 minutes.

“First, all the tattoos had been handmade. They hadn’t decided before we started shooting. Now, they remain in the face. It is a turning point. I go back to being a 60 year old superhero and everyone seems really adorable.”

Cumming spoke of his role in X-Men 2 and his frustration for the make -up process just before it was announced that he would return for the next Avengers Movies.

“The character is really interesting, the message of the film (tolerance of others who are different from us) was very timely and unusual for a successful film by Hollywood, but the real resistance was to dedicate more than four hours a day to have two men who strike my face”, Cumming published on his website.

“Then there were the harnesses for the tail and to fly, the feet, the hands – who made a group effort go to the cabinet, the teeth, the lenses, Oh God did not start.”

Other X-Men The veterans who join cumming in the cast are Ian McKellen (Magneto), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), James Marsden (Cyclops), Kelsey Grammer (Beast) e Rebecca Romijn (Mystical).

Avengers: Doomsday It is set to hit cinemas on May 1, 2026.
