The comic shops have always been more than simple retail spaces. When I was growing they were a safe refuge, a community center and a place to find and read stories I could connect with.
We have a trailer to share with you for a next documentary entitled Shopping for SupermanAnd it digs in the rise, in the inheritance and in the battle in progress for the survival that these neighborhood comic shops face today.
At their peak, there were about 5,000 comics shops scattered in the United States that the number quickly reduced. This film is a conversation on why these shops still count. They are not just places to buy books and toys, they are where innovative and fandom ideas take shape for life.
The film highlights how vital these shops for creators, publishers and fans are. Explore the rise and struggle of the neighborhood comic stores, tracing their impact on the narrative, publication and fans they call them at home.
The doctor tells “the story of origin of your friendly neighborhood comic shop. Take the 50 -year story of the vast scope of the local comic shop, we examine their cultural meaning and the numerous threats they face today.”
Director Wes Eastin He says to Geeks is sexy: “We are currently making the festival circuit with our first set of set to be, by coincidence, the Free Comic Book Day at the Cinema Columbus Film Festival in Columbus, Oh at 16:30 on May 3 at the Gateway Film Center.”
