Nintendo has announced his new Nintendo today! app, which is a live cinematographic adaptation of the Zelda’s legend It will be released in cinemas on March 26, 2027.
The Action Adventure Fantasy Game series comes from the creators Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, and the film is directed by Wes Ball (Kingdom of the planet of the monkeys).
During a previous interview, the director shared that he is looking for the film both serious and extravagant: “I have this fantastic idea. I am thinking about it for a long time, how beautiful a Zelda film would be … I want to make people’s greatest wishes”.
He continued: “I know it is important, this [Zelda] Franchising, to people and I want it to be a serious movie. A real film that can give people an escape route. This is the thing I want to try to create – it must seem something real. Something serious and beautiful, but fun and extravagant. “
Ball also explains that the film will be more inspired by the work of Hayao Miyazaki and less like The Lord of the Rings.
Ball said: “This fantastic fantasy adventure film that is not like the lord of the rings, is his thing. I always said, I would like to see a live Miyazaki. That wonder and capricious that leads to things, I would like to see something like that.”
He continued explaining: “It will be fantastic. All my life has brought to this moment. I grew up on Zelda and it is the most important property, I think, it is not exploited, if you want.
“So we are working very hard to do something. We are not just trying to do it because we can. We want to make something truly special.”
Ball also opened on how important this film is for him saying: “We are working on it. I think it will be fantastic. The fans will be happy. Zelda’s legend, for me, is one of the most important things ever in my life. You know, next to Star Wars.”
He added: “I played Zelda’s legend for all my childhood in my adulthood. Do you know what I mean? I am a fan. I am a colleague fan. I will go to the ends of the earth to make sure it is the film that we all hope will be.”
Nintendo and Sony Pictures are covering the film, with Derek Connolly (Jurassic world) Write the script.
Zelda’s legend He follows the adventures of a young hero named Link, who often has the task of saving Princess Zelda and fighting the evil evil Ganon.
