Kathleen Kennedy Confirm that it is not yet moving away from Lucastfilm.

For decades, Star Wars He was under the singular vision of George Lucaswhich meticulously controlled his direction. As he took the heat from the fans, especially after the prequel trilogy, he continued to model the franchise until 2012, when he sold Lucasfilm to Disney.

This agreement also meant delivering creative control and Lucas chose the longtime collaborator Kathleen Kennedy to take the reins.

Since then, Kennedy has supervised the sequel trilogy, numerous TV series, including The MandalorianAnd various spin-offs. But his time in Lucasfilm was not without problems and problems.

Several projects have been announced and then set aside, the main cinematographic productions saw dramatic last minute shifts and the feeling of the fans was, to say it slightly, divided.

This week it was reported that Kennedy would retire to 2025, that at 71 he would not seem outside the left field. However, in a new interview with Deadline, Kennedy quickly closed speculation:

“The truth is, and I just want to say strong and clear, I am not retiring. I will never retire from the movies. I will die to make movies. This is the first thing that is important to say. I’m not retiring. “

So, this puts an end to this, but recognized that the discussions on the future of Lucasfilm took place behind the scenes:

“What is going on to Lucasfilm is that I have been talking for some time with Bob and Alan on how any succession might appear. We have an extraordinary bench of people here and we have all the intentions to make an announcement months or a year along the way.

“We are locking on what will be and continuous. I am producing Mandalorian the film right now and I am also producing Sean Levy’s film, which is later.

“So I keep staying in Lucasfilm and looking very thoughtful with Bob and Alan for those who are entering. So it’s all in progress, and we have every right to make that announcement when we want to do it.”

So there is no immediate departure on the horizon. It is actively involved in the next Star Wars Films, but also recognizes that his time guides Lucasfilm will not last forever and is working closely with Disney leadership to find the right successor.

When asked if Dave Filoni would take over, Kennedy did not give a name, but every time that transition occurs, it will not be a hard exit since it will still be involved in Star Wars as a manufacturer.

While some fans may have been ready for a change, for now, the Kennedy era continues.
