Cobra Kai co-creator Jon Hurwitz I just dropped an interesting revelation behind the scenes at the end of the show, which could have aroused some speculations on the fate of Terry Silver and John Kreese.
Hurwitz shared on X that the team originally filmed a moment now canceled for the assembly of the final episode, intended for “Sweet Child O ‘Mine”. The expected Stinger is a cover of the monthly magazine of the Valley which questioned the mysterious disappearance of Terry Silver.
“Know the final beat of the editing of” my sweet son “which ends on Illustrated sports? “Hurwitz explained.” Well, we had the camera later along the newsstand to find this other magazine showing that the disappearance of Terry Silver was still a mystery in the valley. “
Of course, the spectators have already seen Silver and Kreese go to the head in a brutal yield yacht rendering that ended with an epic explosion. I am not sure of how anyone who was the shore that would have lost that explosion, would have been on the whole news and would have known quickly enough who the yacht was.
Regardless of this, Hurwitz and his team entertained the idea of a last fake Kreese wildly unlikely only for fun.
He said: “We even took a further step forward and we did Martin Kove’s Hand away to collect the magazine, in part for the scenario 0.000001%, we decided to imply that Kreese was still alive, but more only to have fun since we always joke about how Kreese likes to falsify his death.
“Once we saw how the explosion of the boat appeared, that tiny possibility that we would use the completely disappeared movie.”
In the end, however, they decided to leave the moment on the floor of the cutting room. “In the end, we wanted our ending to end triumphantly and with credibility, not with an absurd confirmation that in some way John Kreese survived that fiery explosion.
“We wanted Johnny, Daniel and the rest of the characters of our show lived in a world where there was no more danger of silver or Kreei who suddenly appeared and joked again with their lives.”
Hurwitz added: “Yes, Cobra Kai never dies, and no, we have not shown the bodies, so I suppose there is no evidence that both men are dead. But for the here and now, we live in a world where there is a true legitimate Peacetime of karate in the valley, because this is the story we meant and is so beautiful! “
So, while the arches of the history of Kreese and Silver seem to have reached their explosive conclusion, I saw some fans think that one or both are still alive. But, in my opinion, there is no way that they survived that explosion.
A precious gift of our incredible stage teacher, Eric Bates. This magazine appears in a moment eliminated from the ending – a moment that we knew that we would almost certainly not use in our cut, but that we wanted to have on the camera “for any eventuality.”
