This week’s retro trailer is for the martial arts comedy of 1993 Surf ninja! The film follows two teenage brothers, Johnny and Adam, who discover they are the heirs of the throne of Patusan, a small island nation.
Raised in California, the brothers are not aware of their royal lineage until they are targeted by the evil colonel who (Leslie Nielsen), a gentleman of the war Cyborg who overturned their family. Led by a mysterious warrior named Zatch (Ernie Reyes Sr.), the brothers take a journey to recover their kingdom.
Along the way, Johnny refines his natural combat skills, while Adam discovers he can predict the future through his sega game equipment.
The film is full of Campy humor and has had a low budget sensation, so obviously it became a favorite of worship among the children of the 90s. The film capitalized on the popularity of Ninja Ninja Mutant Teen Mutants AND Mortal KombatAttractive for the young audience with its mix of surf elements, karate and video games.
Although it was not a box office success, the film is remembered for its foolish charm. Rob Schneider also played a role in the film.
