The Disney company is making some changes to its programs of diversity, equity and inclusion (gods) to focus more closely on the company results, according to a note sent to employees Tuesday and obtained by Axios.
While many of the changes have already been in motion in recent months or year and influence only on Disney employees, one of the changes just implemented has to do with the content notices that we started to see before many of the classic streaming films on Disney+ .
When the streamer was launched in 2019, Disney+ notified the subscribers that some of his classics likes Dumbo AND Peter Pan They were “presented as originally created” and “they can contain obsolete cultural representations”, but Disney has taken a further step forward in 2020 with an updated automatic message that said:
“This program includes negative representations and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and now they are wrong. Instead of removing this content, we want to recognize its harmful impact, learn from it and sparkle the conversation to create a more inclusive future together. ”
Disclaimer added that Disney is “committed to creating stories with inspiring and aspirational themes that reflect the rich diversity of human experience all over the world”.
The new most concise advice that can be found in the details tab now will read: “This program is presented as originally created and can contain stereotypes or negative representations”.
I think both messages transmit the same feeling. Disney has always been dedicated to doing the right thing by its fans and by the different cultures it represents.
