Review: Captain America: Brave New World is another notch in Marvel’s mediocrity series

I think Marvel Studios had the right idea in an attempt to do Captain America: Brave New World a politically loaded thriller in the vein of The winter soldierBut the execution does not land.

While the film has some fun and fun action sequences and a couple of solid performances, in the end it looks like a disconnected film weighed down by a weak script and a non -inspired direction.

The filmmakers decided to create a compelling political thriller with high stakes and intelligent narration, but did not do well. It is not the worst thing that Marvel has put out, but it is far from the return to the shape that some fans could hope.

Harrison FordEntering Thaddeus Ross as president, the highlight of the film is easily. Bring the gravitas and the presence you would expect and I liked how the film delivered his character.

Tim Blake Nelson Since the leader also had great potential, but the film will not draw the maximum advantage and I would have liked to see more. There was a really good film in some way especially with the President Ross/Red Hulk and the leader, but he did not reach the potential.

The film launches a mix of visually fresh action, but not inspired and embarrassing tonal shifts. The story was everywhere and intervene small fragments of strange stupidity, forced humor that completely reduce any tension. Marvel has always mixed the action and comedy well, but it didn’t seem natural here.

Anthony Mackie was a great support actor, but this film exhibits his limits as the protagonist. His performance by Sam Wilson does not have the imposing presence that the role requires and the script does not make him any favor.

His performance was quite monotonous throughout everything and did not show much personality. Mackie is at his best when he is bouncing another strong actor, but since much of the film rests on his shoulders, there is no energy that makes the experience boring.

Marvel wants Mackie Sam to be the next great Captain America, but this film has not really given me a compelling reason to gather behind him.

Shira Haas It also joins the film like Sabra, an Israeli superhero that should be a force not to be underestimated. But it was really difficult to buy it as a tough fighter that can break down anyone in hand -to -hand combat. He is such a small person that he is a source of distraction, every time he is in a fighting scene, he does not feel credible.

As for the action, some of the biggest sequences are exciting to look at, but many of the hand -to -hand combat seem disordered and disappointing. Furthermore, it is still difficult to believe that Sam Wilson would actually survive some of the beatings he took considering that he is not a super powerful character. I know he has vibranium wings, but this can only do so much. It is difficult to suspend disbelief.

While the film makes a strong point that Wilson has no superpowers, it has survived some hardcore beatings that makes you think that it must have powers. The beginning of the film saw Wilson fight a big boy and for most of the struggle, Wilson had handed over his ass. So how should we believe that it could survive a fight with the Red Hulk?

The frustrating thing is that there was a good film buried here somewhere. The presence of Ford, the return of the leader and the promise of a deeper political thriller could have done for a great story of Captain America.

Instead, the film was just trying to tie the ends dissolved by films such as The incredible Hulk AND Eternalsmaking it more similar to an unfinished business patchwork.

And then there is the post-cried scene … I will not ruin it, but it was not in any way good. It was so bad that the film in retrospective worsens in some way. It is one of those bad moments of “palm slap on the forehead” that lets you shake your head.

Listen, some fans of Marvel will still have fun with it, and there is no doubt that children will love the show. But for anyone who hopes in a Winter soldier-The level of experience, that’s not the case. New brave world He had all the ingredients to be something exceptional, but instead it is really only another chapter forgetable in the recent series of mediocrity of Marvel.
