Daredevil: Born Again Showrunner fought Marvel to bring Karen and Foggy back and was willing to lose work on it

Daredevil: born again He almost did not include two of the most important characters in the Daredevil franchise, but showrunner Dario Scardapane He wasn’t going to abandon them.

When Scardapane joined the project, he clarified that the most dear friends and bills of Matt Murdock, Foggy Nelson and Karen Page, had to be part of the show.

He said to Empire: “This was actually one of the first things I told the leaders. You can’t do this show without Karen and Foggy. They are Matt’s family. They are the heart of his world.

“You can’t get them out without explaining why, and if that explanation does not sound true, don’t get them out.”

Originally, Born again It has been planned as more than a restart rather than a direct continuation of the Netflix series. The intent was to carve out a new path for Charlie Cox’s blind policeman, but in doing this, Marvel initially questioned some main characters. Scardapane saw him as an error.

He explained: “It was much less the world we knew, and the more trying to affect a new track, but in doing so, they had forgotten some things that were really necessary for the engine of history”.

During the writers’ strike, the show suffered a great review. The punisher Showrunner, together with the directors Justin Benson AND Aaron MoorheadHe took production and worked to report the key elements of the Netflix series, too Elden Henson AND Deborah Ann Woll’s characters.

For Scardapane, this was not negotiable, he remained standing, saying: “I was willing to lose a job for this. Because the third season of the Netflix show ended with a dream, with the names on that napkin. If you don’t pay for it , you’re not giving the context to your characters.

That dream, of course, was the future that Matt, Foggy and Karen imagined, who was building Nelson, Murdock and Page together. It was a decisive moment at the end of the season 3 of Daredevil and now the MCU series will honor that legacy while pushing the characters into a new era.

I am happy that Scardapane was intelligent enough to see him and that he managed to put Marvel on board. It is wild for me that Marvel’s managers were not intelligent enough to understand that these characters had to be part of the new show.

In Marvel television Daredevil: born again“Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer with higher ability is fighting for justice through his lively law firm, while the former head of the mafia Wilson Fisk (Vincent d’Onofrio) pursues his political efforts in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves in an inevitable collision course. “

The series also sees Elden Henson return as Froggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll Like Karen Page, Jon Bernhal Like Frank Castle/Punisher, Wilson Bethel Like Benjamin “Dex” POINDEXTER E Ayelet Zurer Like Vanessa Marianna-Fisk.

The cast also includes Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, Arths Frooushan, Jeremy EarlAnd more.

Daredevil: born again is being developed by the directors Justin Benson AND Aaron Moorheadwho worked on both Luna Knight AND Loki.
