The first trailer for has been released Margaret Ridleyis the new action thriller Cleanerwhich is 100% inspired. Die hard.
The film comes from the director Martin Campbell (Royal Casino) and Ridley plays a former soldier turned window cleaner, and finds himself facing a group of terrorists (led by Clive Owen) who took over an entire building.
Ridley will play Major Billie Jean Parker, “a decorated Marine Corps commander who is relieved of duty after a high-risk mission in the Philippines results in civilian casualties, despite the capture of anarchist leader Omar Romatas.
“Facing the loss of her career, she visits her dying father, Clyde, a former Marine, who asks her to attend a dedication ceremony for a school building named in his honor.
“The event takes a deadly turn when Omar Romatas’ vengeful son Bento launches an assault, taking hostages. Forced back into combat, Billie Jean sets traps and executes precise strikes to outsmart her attackers.
“His tactical instincts and ruthless efficiency turn the tide of battle as he faces his past and proves his worth in a relentless battle that will define his legacy.”
Campbell spoke about the film saying: “Cleaner is a gripping thriller, unique and original in both its characters and setting. Most of the time it takes place on the side of One Canada Square – hundreds of meters up – and I want the audience to be up there with Joey in a dizzying, stomach-churning experience.
While we’ve seen this type of story told several times before, it features Ridley taking on a very different type of role and we’ll see her kick ass.
