Unused Captain America suit design from CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

This is an unused Captain America costume pattern from the Marvel movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The art was shared in the new book, Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding.

Ryan Meinerding is Character Designer, Creative Director and Head of Visual Development at Marvel Studios and this updated version of Steve Rogers’ suit is a mix of Caps’ suit The Avengers AND Avengers: Age of Ultron.

In Captain America: The Winter SoldierSteve Rogers wore his “Stealth Suit” from the comics before donning his old WWII gear.

An excerpt from the book reads: “When Captain America: The Winter SoldierNate Moore’s producer told Ryan Meinerding that they wanted to give Steve Rogers the “Stealth Suit” super soldier from Marvel comics (drawn by Marko Djurdjevic), the artist was excited, but also worried. “It’s a great costume, but it has no hood or helmet, and I knew we could improve upon the helmet from Marvel’s The Avengers,” says Meinerding.”

“Kevin Feige agreed that a redesign was needed. ‘That was the biggest challenge for me. I was extremely motivated to make the right helmet.’ In the first presentation meeting, Meinerding’s dress design, from the neck down, was approved.

“But originally an additional Cap costume was planned for the film. Meinerding shares: ‘The rear view [opposite, bottom right] it was for an alternate costume cut from that film.

“When Cap would return from the Lemurian Star mission and be in the Triskelion, he would have this updated Avengers suit. So he wasn’t originally wearing the stealth suit all the time.'”

I like the design! You can check it out below.
