Gwyneth Paltrow is rumored to return as Pepper Potts/Rescue in AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY

It looks like Marvel Studios will be pulling out all the stops in the near future Avengers: Judgment Day movie with how many MCU characters will appear in it.

Now, a new rumor claims so Gwyneth Paltrow may reprise her role as Pepper Potts, aka Rescue, in the highly anticipated film. This is the second time this rumor has surfaced, but this time it comes from a different source.

Paltrow, who appeared in Iron Man, Iron Man 2, The AvengersAND Iron Man 3took a backseat in subsequent MCU projects, making brief appearances Avengers: Infinity War AND Avengers: Endgame.

His last significant appearance came during the climactic battle End of gameswhere she transformed into Rescue to fight alongside her husband, Tony Stark, and the Avengers. That same battle also marked his emotional farewell to Tony after he sacrificed himself to save the world.

Since then, Pepper Potts has been noticeably absent, although Stark Industries’ resources have remained involved in Spider-Man’s misadventures in Far from home AND No way home.

With projects like Iron heart AND Armor wars on the horizon, it seemed logical that Pepper might re-emerge there. However, insider @MyTimeToShineH says Paltrow is expected to return Avengers: Judgment Day.

If true, this would represent an interesting return for a character tied to the origins of the MCU. However, some fans are hoping this doesn’t mean another round of Stark-related Multiverse drama, especially with Doctor Doom reportedly playing a central role in the film.

The fact is that Doctor Doom will not be recognizable to anyone and, apparently, any of the MCU characters who know Tony Stark will not recognize Doom as Stark. At least, that’s my understanding of what Marvel is doing with the character.

Paltrow has always been open about her feelings about the MCU. While she appreciates her time on the franchise, she admitted she’s not a huge fan.

She previously said: “To be honest, at some point I stopped watching them. I’ve never seen them End of games. I can’t keep track of who is what. But I should probably do it sometime.”

Reflecting on the early days of the MCU, Paltrow talked about how much the franchise has evolved since she first took on the role of Robert Downey Jr. in the 2008 film. Iron Man.

The actress said: “The first film we made was very different from the others because the studio didn’t think it would be a big success. They hired Jon Favreau directing, which was great. And they hired Robert Downey Jr.which was not hirable at the time. His career was at a very low point.”

He described the production as improvised and low-pressure, almost like working on an independent film. “We wrote the scenes in the morning in Jon’s trailer. Then the movie was so successful that we never made them like that again.”

With Avengers: Judgment Day helmed by Russo Brothersfans seem to be optimistic about what’s in store for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

It remains to be seen whether Paltrow’s Rescue will play a significant role or make a brief appearance, but her return would bring a nostalgic spark to the new chapter of the MCU.

Avengers: Judgment Day will be released in May 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars expected arrival in May 2027.
