The loss of Ray Stevenson in 2023 was a shock to fans after his amazing performance as Baylan Skoll Star Wars: Ahsoka. He delivered a compelling and enigmatic performance as the former Jedi and his untimely demise raised questions about the character’s future.
With the second season of Ahsoka in development, it looks like Lucasfilm may have found a new actor to play the role of Baylan Skoll and that actor is game of Thrones star Rory McCann.
You know McCann from his role as The Hound game of Thronesand word is he’ll bring his rugged intensity to the role of Baylan Skoll.
The news was first reported by The InSneider, though Lucasfilm has yet to confirm the casting. If true, McCann could fit the role perfectly.
The Journey of Baylan Skoll Ahsoka left some big questions unanswered. He was last seen stranded on the mysterious planet Peridea with Ahsoka, Sabine, and his former apprentice Shin Hati.
Skoll’s story arc was set to dive deeper into the ancient secrets of the Force and there were plenty more teases to come from the character, leaving fans excited to see where his story will go next.
According to the report, Stevenson’s family approved the recast, which is something that will likely bring some comfort to fans on the fence about continuing Skoll’s story.
Beyond its unforgettable game of Thrones performance in which McCann appeared Hot fuzz (like the iconic “Yarp” boy) and Gladiator II. His physical build and ability to deliver excellent performances will fit well with Skoll’s menacing yet complex character.
When previously talking about Skoll’s potential recast, Dave Filoni he said: “Obviously there’s a story there. At this point we are waiting to see the pattern. But I’m glad the conversation is about Ray and how great he was.
“I would have little mini-debates with him and say, ‘Ray, you’re the bad guy here.’ And he said, “I don’t think so.” I was like, “I know you don’t think so, but it’s true.”
“I like that you play it like I’m not.” That’s exactly what Baylan thinks.”
Although no official release date has been set AhsokaAfter the return of Dave Filoni, the creator has been working hard to write the script for the next chapter. The series could debut in 2026, with Ahsoka probably followed Andor as the next major Star Wars series on Disney+.
