Sebastian Stan praises the practical effects of THUNDERBOLTS* and boasts that it can’t be compared to any previous Marvel film

Sebastiano Stan is fresh off a win at the Golden Globes last weekend and is ready to ramp up the excitement for his return to Marvel in the upcoming film Lightning*.

While on the red carpet at the awards ceremony, Deadline caught up with Stan and asked him about the upcoming film. He responded, promising that this movie will be “its own thing” and said:

“I don’t think you can compare it to any previous Marvel movie, and that’s because of the group of characters in this movie and these actors. I couldn’t have had a better time than I did with David Harbour, Florence Pugh, Wyatt RussellAND Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

“I mean, each of these people are funny, they’re generous, and so I think a lot of that chemistry is there in the movie, and I’m excited for people to see it. It’s a bit like The breakfast club.

“It has its own vibe, and it’s fun, and it’s real, and we did some real stunts, like when you watch a truck explode, it’s a truck exploding. It’s not CGI.

“Marvel really wanted this movie to have its own — there were a lot of things in the movie that were actually done practically, and I think that helps a lot, because people are just smart. I think the audience just, them Know.”

They seem to have taken a new approach to this film and it will be fun to see each of these talented outsider characters find community with each other.

In the film, Stan plays Bucky Barnes, Davide Porto he is the Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen it’s Ghost, Lewis Pullman he is the sentry, Olga Kurylenko is Taskmaster, Florence Pugh is Yelena Belova, Wyatt Russell is John Walker, while Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays the director of the CIA, Countess Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.

Lightning* it is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on May 2, 2025.
