Spin-off “Anatomy of passion” (GrayS Anatomy) under the name “Fire Part 19” (Station 19) Seven seasons spoke about the daily life and personal life of firefighters of Seattle.

The series quickly won dedicated spectators and became part of the traditional “Thursday of Schonda Raims” on ABC, and crossovers with “Anatomy of Passion” made it especially valuable for those who watched both stories. But in December 2023 the channel announced: the seventh season will be the latter.

The last season only received 10 episodes instead of the usual 18, as in the sixth. There was no official closure closure, but sources in the industry claim that the case has been reduced. After the strikes of SAG-AFTRA and WGA in 2023, many American television channels started to greatly reduce costs and to place cheaper projects in the net reality shows and sports broadcasts.

“Everything came down to the wish of the canal to save,” said the source of deadline.

For fans this sounds particularly offensive: their favorite series turned out to be “superfluous”, simply because it turned out to be more expensive than the leadership wanted. At the same time, the reviews of the Firemire 19 remained stable.

Drama behind the scenes

A year before the cancellation in the series, changes took place in the creative team. The reason was the story with one of the scenarios in which the character player used an offensive expression. The producers intervened and Showreanner Zoann Clack received a promotion to the main scenewriter and later with Peter Page in Co-Shoranner.

Although the conflict was resolved, this episode became another factor that could influence the decision of leadership.

How the team learned about cancellation

According to Clack, the news found her right during a panel discussion. She ignored calls from ABC leaders until she received a message: “This is important.” After a conversation with the channel, she immediately called Page and decided to collect actors, screenwriters and the entire film team as quickly as possible.

The meeting literally took place five minutes before the information about the cancellation appeared in the press.

“It was difficult, but it is better to hear something personal than learning from social networks,” Page admitted.
