Andy Muschietti confirms that Robert Pattinson will NOT be the DCU’s Batman in THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD

Surrounding relationships The brave and the bold has been buzzing since DC Studios announced the project, but director Andy Muschietti has definitively denied a persistent rumor… Robert Pattinsonstarring Matt Reeves The Batmanhe won’t be the Batman of the DCU.

During an appearance on Radio TU, Muschietti intervened directly on the ongoing chatter by stating: “As everyone knows, Batman appeared in The brave and the bold will belong to the new DC universe.

“It’s pretty obvious that Matt Reeves’ Batman is not part of this new universe. However, DC and Warner Bros. are moving forward with the second part of Reeves’ Batman series, which is widely reported to be released around 2027.

This clarification comes after weeks of speculation, sparked in part by rumors that DC Studios would co-direct James Gunn had considered bringing Pattinson into the DCU fold. Gunn previously admitted that he considered the idea, but Reeves ultimately did BatVerse remains separate.

Muschietti elaborated on the strategic decision to keep the two iterations of Batman distinct, stating:

“Releasing two Batman movies at the same time would be counterproductive. What DC is doing is creating a strategy to ensure that these two films don’t conflict with each other.

With Reeves’ sequel now slated for release in October 2027, fans will have to wait a while to see Pattinson’s next outing as the Gotham vigilante.

In the meantime, The brave and the bold will introduce a new interpretation of the Dark Knight and, in particular, his son, Damian Wayne, who is a “murderous teenager raised by assassins” who will become the film’s Robin.

Muschietti continued, “They want to do the movie with me, and I want to do it too. I look forward to working on the film.”

James Gunn and Pietro Safranco-heads of DC Studios, also expressed confidence in Muschietti’s ability to deliver results, sharing in a statement:

“We saw The Flash even before taking the reins of DC Studios, and we knew we were in the hands of not only a visionary director but a huge DC fan. When it came time to find a director for The brave and the boldthere was really only one choice. Luckily, Andy said yes.

With Muschietti at the helm, The brave and the bold promises to bring a new perspective to the world of Batman while avoiding overlap with Reeves’ dark, noir saga.
