Could Mr. Freeze be the villain in Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN: PATT II?

With James Gunn AND Pietro SafranThe DCU is still in its infancy, rumors about future projects continue to flood the internet.

One rumor in particular caught my attention, and honestly, I hope it’s true. That rumor implies that Mr. Freeze is possibly Matt Reeves’ villain Batman: Part II.

As one of my favorite Batman villains, Victor Fries brings one of the most compelling and tragic backstories to the rogues’ gallery. If anyone can pull off a great, realistic performance as Mr. Freeze, it’s him Matt Reeves.

The big news about the possible appearance of Mr. Freeze began with industry insiders Jeff Sneiderwho has a solid track record and is saying there is some truth to these rumors.

Given the sequel’s wintry setting, the inclusion of the icy villain makes sense for the story. But how would a character like Mr. Freeze fit into the grounded world that Reeves created in the first film?

If Reeves could reimagine the Riddler as a Zodiac-inspired serial killer, I’d love to see how he would handle Victor Fries, focusing on his tragic obsession with saving his wife, Nora.

The emotional weight of Mr. Freeze would certainly fit Reeves’ dark, introspective tone, and his technology-based abilities seem like they could be grounded in a more realistic interpretation.

This isn’t the only big news regarding Batman. While Gunn stated that a new actor will be chosen for Batman The brave and the boldSneider continues to insist that Gunn might prefer to insert Reeves’ world into the DCU, but keep it Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader in both franchises.

It’s hard to believe, especially since the DCU version of Batman recently appeared in the DC animated series Commando of creatures.

It’s almost certainly a placeholder design, but that hasn’t stopped fans from dissecting it.

What do you think? Would you like to see Mr. Freeze take on Pattinson’s Batman, or is there another villain better suited to Reeves’ vision?
