To celebrate the new year, Disney has released a new poster for its live-action/CGI remake of Lilo and Stitchand features Stitch celebrating the New Year by breaking out of New York’s iconic Times Square Ball.
The poster is accompanied by the slogan: “New Year. New Mayhem” as the film hits theaters later this year.
In the film, “Lilo is a lonely Hawaiian girl who adopts an ugly little ‘dog,’ whom she names Stitch. Stitch would be the perfect pet if he wasn’t actually a genetic experiment who escaped from an alien planet and crash-landed on Earth.
“Through her love, her faith, and her unwavering belief in ohana, the Hawaiian concept of family, Lilo helps unlock Stitch’s heart and gives him the ability to care for someone else.”
The cast includes a newcomer Maia Kealohawho plays Lilo; Billy Magnussen as the one-eyed alien Pleakley, Sydney Elizabeth Agudong (NCIS) as Nani, Lilo’s older sister and legal guardian, the original voice of Nani, Tia Carrerewill play a new character called Mrs. Kekoa, while she is an actress Amy Hillwho played Mrs. Hasagawa in the animated film and series, will play a new character called Tūtū.
Zach Galifianakis he is also the protagonist and it is confirmed that he will play the scientist creator of Stitch, Jumba.
Camp Dean Fleischer (Marcel the shell with shoes) is directing the remake, which hits theaters on May 23, 2025.
