Star Wars: The Acolyte star Manny Giacinto recently offered some insights into the showrunner Leslye Headland ambitious plans for the show and reveals that the original plan for the series called for three seasons and a feature film.
During a recent panel at Fan Expo moderated by Collider, Jacinto, who played Qimir The Acolyteshared Headland’s broad vision for the Star Wars series.
She said: “I remember Leslye’s dream was to do three seasons, not just this one… But there’s something about having a finished finale that makes things that much more special.
“So, yeah, I don’t know if I would do it or not, but you know, three seasons and a movie would have been incredible, and I know we had a lot more to explore with that second season.”
There are many of them Star Wars fans who would have liked to see these plans come to fruition, but as you know, Disney canceled the Lucasfilm series after just one season leaving fans in suspense.
Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment Alan Bergmann he previously cited the show’s high production cost of more than $230 million for eight episodes as the reason for its cancellation.
He said: “We were happy with our performance, but it wasn’t where we needed it, given the cost structure of that title, frankly, to go and do a second season. So that’s why we didn’t do it.
Jacinto revealed that the second season would explore key storylines from the first season, including the role of Darth Plagueis, who appeared briefly in the finale.
The Acolyte expanded the Star Wars universe exploring a new era. He tried to do something new, but in the end it didn’t work.
Perhaps the rest of the story will eventually be told in comic or novel form.
