The next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is sure to feature some big and exciting developments, as many interesting rumors hint at epic-scale plans and fan-favorite characters joining the adventure.
The imminent Avengers: Judgment Day AND Avengers: Secret Wars will conclude the Multiverse Saga and, according to the latest rumors, could pave the way for the next big event of the MCU: Annihilation.
The Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez recently released some new details about Marvel Studios’ ambitious plans. He revealed that the studio is aiming to include characters from “previous Marvel Legacy films,” noting that “nothing and no one [is] prohibited.”
This could extend to animated characters as well, suggesting that Marvel is ready to break traditional boundaries to deliver a wild crossover experience.
After the shocking events of the multiverse of Secret WarsPerez joked that “the countdown is missing Annihilation start.”
This 2006 comic storyline involved some of Marvel’s most iconic cosmic heroes and villains, including Nova, the Silver Surfer, Thanos, and the sinister Annihilus. The latter is said to debut in upcoming Marvel films Nova Disney+ series, which perhaps lay the foundation for his most important role in the MCU.
Perez also speculated that Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) and Beast (Kelsey Grammer) are the locks that will appear later Avengers movie. He said it too Channing Tatum he is said to be reprising his long-discussed role as Gambit Hugh Jackmann AND Ryan Reynolds In Deadpool 3.
If this actually works, Tatum’s Gambit could join Xavier and Beast in bridging the gap between the X-Men and Avengers universes. It would also be fun to see Gambit fight alongside Deadpool and Wolverine again.
Marvel Studios is reportedly casting younger actors for the X-Men reboot, but whether these legacy characters will appear in the next two Avengers films that could take on mentorship roles. The supposed introduction of the Shi’ar Empire also suggests that Marvel’s mutants could play a vital role in the earlier period Annihilation.
The Russo Brothers, known for their critically acclaimed work Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Endless warAND End of gamesare returning for the next Avegners films, and expressed their excitement in a previous statement:
“Being able to create stories and explore characters within the Marvel Universe has fulfilled our lifelong dream. We are thrilled to collaborate with Kevin once again [Feige]Lou [D’Esposito]and the entire Marvel team to take this epic storytelling adventure to new and surprising places for fans and ourselves alike.”
Avengers: Judgment Day will be released in theaters on May 1, 2026 Avengers: Secret Wars following 7 May 2027.
With the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom alongside Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers and the possibility of a Annihilationthemed saga, the MCU seems ready to up the ante once again.
