Jared Leto is officially set to star as Skeletor as a director Travis KnightThe live-action film adaptation of Masters of the Universe. Hollywood obviously has a thing for Leto as he continues to get these big franchise roles.
This was also announced Sam C. Wilson (House of the Dragon) will play Trap Jaw; Kojo Attah (The beekeeper) will play Tri-Klops; AND Hafthor Björnsson (game of Thrones) will play Goat Man. All of these are Skeletor’s henchmen.
They join the previous cast Nicola Galitzine (Purple, red, white and royal blue hearts, the idea of you) as Prince Adam/He-Man, Camila Mendes (Riverdale) as Teela, Alison Brie (GLOW, Community) as Skeletor’s second-in-command, Evil-Lyn, and Idris Elba (“Hijack”) as Teela’s father, Man-at-Arms.
The most recent draft of the screenplay was written by Chris Butler (ParaNorman) following writers David CallahamAND Aaron AND Adam Nee.
I previously reported that the synopsis had been shared, but I hope that’s not really the direction of the film. It reads: “10-year-old Prince Adam, who crash-landed on Earth aboard a spaceship and was separated from his magical Sword of Power, his only link to his home on Eternia.
“After tracking him down nearly two decades later, Prince Adam is returned to space to defend his home planet from Skeletor’s evil forces.
“But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam must first uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!”
Masters of the Universe is produced by Escape Artists and Mattel Films and will be released exclusively in theaters worldwide on June 5, 2026.
