Patty Jenkins’ STAR WARS: ROGUE SQUADRON has reportedly been revived and in active development

We learned this recently Taika Waititi’S Star Wars was shelved, but it appears that Lucasfilm has also taken another project off the shelf and resumed development on it.

According to Hollywood insider/scooper Daniel Richtman, director Patty Jenkins’ Star Wars: Rogue Squadron is back in active development.

Jenkins parted ways with the film to concentrate on directing Wonder Woman 3which as you know has never happened. It was also reported that Jenkins had creative differences Kathleen Kennedyand has officially been taken off Lucasfilm’s 2022 release schedule.

Jenkins had already spoken about the project a couple of years ago, saying: “So when I left Star Wars Do Wonder Woman 3I thought maybe I’ll come back Star Wars After Wonder Woman 3.

“So we made a deal for that to happen, we started a deal, but I thought I was going to do Wonder Woman. When it was all over, Lucasfilm and I were like, oh, we have to make this deal. We made the deal just as the strike was taking place.

“So now I have to a draft of Star Wars and so we’ll see what happens there. You know, like, who knows? It’s difficult, they have a hard job ahead of them: what will be the first film they make.

“They have other directors who have worked, but now, you know, I’m back working on Rogue Squadron and we’ll see what happens. We have to develop it, you know, get to the point where we’re both super happy with it.”

When the project was first announced, Jenkins spoke about his inspiration for the project, saying, “When [my father] lost his life in the service of [the United States]It ignited in me the desire to turn all that tragedy and emotion into one day making the greatest fighter pilot film of all time.”

“But as much as I tried and looked as I did, I could never find the right story. I kept looking and looking, but I couldn’t find the right one. Now I’ve found a story about two things I love.”

Jenkins had already explained this to him previously Star Wars the film will tell an original story and will be inspired by the Rogue Squadron games and books. It will not be a direct adaptation of any pre-existing narrative:

“[In the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron movie] we’re doing something original with a lot of influence from games and books. There’s a lot that’s being recognized and understood about the greatness of all of these things, but yeah, it’s an original story and I’m so excited to do it.”

The logline originally released for the film reads: “Rogue Squadron will introduce a new generation of starfighter pilots as they earn their wings and risk their lives on a high-speed, edge-of-your-seat thrill ride, and move the saga into the galaxy’s future era.”

So, it looks like Jenkins might actually pull it off Star Wars movie. Are you excited about this? Rogue Squadron could the film go ahead?
