Austin Butler he is destined to act as director Luca GuadagninoThe new film adaptation of Bret Easton’s novel American psycho.
Bulter will play Patrick Bateman, previously played by Christian Bale in the original film released in 2000. Giacobbe Elordi he was meant to take on the role, but that obviously didn’t work in his favor.
The film’s screenplay comes from Scott Z. Burnsand it was previously explained that this “will not be a remake of the 2000 film, but a new adaptation of Ellis’ novel.”
President of the Lionsgate film group Adam Fogelson he previously said: “We are thrilled to add another elite playmaker to our next roster. Luca is a brilliant artist and the perfect visionary to create a completely new interpretation of this powerful and classic IP.”
American psycho is a satirical novel that follows Bateman, a wealthy and successful investment banker in 1980s Manhattan. Beneath his refined exterior, Bateman is a violent person with psychopathic tendencies, indulging in brutal acts of murder, torture, and sexual violence.
He lives a double life as he navigates high society, obsessed with materialism, designer brands, and superficial relationships, while simultaneously engaging in heinous acts that seem to go unnoticed by those around him.
The Lionsgate film will be produced by and executive produced by Frenesy Films Sam Pressmannson of Edward R. Pressmanproducer of the first adaptation, through his company Pressman Film.
Guadagnino is currently in post-production After the hunthero Julia Roberts. He also directed films Challengers, Suspiria, Bones and everything.
