The next Marvel film from Sony Pictures Kraven the Hunter it will be the last spin-off film in the Spider-Man Universe for the time being. Every other project outside of anything directly involving Spider-Man has been cancelled.
This news comes from The Wrap, according to which the studio is completely focused on Spider-Man. One talent agent said, “They’ve developed what they want to develop for now. It’s really about the next ‘Spider-Man’ movie.”
A studio insider revealed that the studio will now focus on Spider-Man 4which is co-produced with Marvel Studios, as well Spider-Man: Beyond Spider-Verse. As for television, Spider-Noir will remain a top priority.
Speaking about the problems Spider-Man spin-offs have faced, another insider shared: “The biggest problem with Sony Spider-Man spin-offs seems to be the lack of quality control.
“The movies are just not good. Sometimes that lack of quality meets a film that no one asked for, as it did Mrs. Weband this is a no-win scenario. It might be time for Sony to start cultivating different IPs to launch new franchises.”
For the most part, fans haven’t been happy with the Marvel movies that Sony Pictures has put out, so it makes sense that they’ll pull the plug on any other spinoff projects until they can get their shit together and learn how to make good movies . .
I’m sure that one day Sony will try again to make another Spider-Man spin-off movie, but as of now, after Kraven the Hunterthe focus will be on the character of Spider-Man.
