Potential new casting has been reported for the upcoming HBO film Harry Potter Television series. This is a huge project that fans are keeping an eye on because people are interested in who will be chosen as their favorite and loved character.
It had already been said previously Marco Rylance he was up for the role of Albus Dumbledore, and that London gang actor Paapa Essiedu he was targeted for his role as Professor Severus Snape.
Deadline has confirmed these actors, but they’ve also added more to the list. They say it Marco Forte he’s also in the running for the role of Dumbledore, which would be interesting to see.
The makers are also said to be trying to find a cast Ted Lasso actor Brett Goldstein as Hogwarts gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid, created by Robbie Coltrane in movies. This could be a fun casting!
Then there is Bad sisters co-creator/star Sharon Horgan who is sought after as vice-principal Minerva McGonagall, previously played by the deceased Maggie Smith in movies. Rachel Weisz he is also on the studio’s “wish list” for the role.
No casting deal has been made for the series and HBO is still looking for a new trio of young actors to play the iconic roles of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.
It was revealed that 32,000 kids submitted audition tapes for the lead roles of Harry, Hermione and Ron.
The series will be “a faithful adaptation of the beloved Harry Potter book series by author and executive producer JK Rowling.
“The series will feature a new cast to lead a new generation of fandom, filled with fantastic details and much-loved characters. Harry Potter fans have loved it for over twenty-five years.
“Every season will bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures for new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and beloved films will remain at the heart of the franchise and available to watch globally.”
Francesca Gardiner (Succession) will serve as the showrunner and executive producer of the show and Marco Mylod will direct multiple episodes in addition to executive producing.
THE Harry Potter The TV series will be filmed at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden, where the films were shot, and is expected to debut on HBO in late 2026-27.
