Ralph Fienneswho played Lord Voldemort wonderfully in Harry Potter film saga, recently supported the suggestion that Cilian Murphy (Oppenheimer) is expected to take on the role of the villain in the upcoming HBO series.
Murphy’s suggestion came up during a recent interview, and Fiennes responded by saying: “Cillian is a fantastic actor. That’s a wonderful tip. I would be totally in favor of Cillian. Yes.”
I think a lot of fans would love to see Murphy in the role of Voldemort. There’s no doubt he’d be great in the role, but I don’t even know if he’s in the running!
The Harry Potter TV series will arrive on HBO in 2026. Casey Bloys said the show would be “a faithful adaptation” of JK Rowling’s books and “immerse yourself in each of the iconic books that fans have continued to appreciate all these years.”
HBO is currently looking for a new trio of young actors to play the iconic roles of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. A few months ago they launched an open casting call for children from the UK and Ireland to audition for the leads.
Marco Rylance is currently one of the actors in the running to play Dumbledore.
Succession duo Francesca Gardiner AND Marco Mylod have signed on to write and direct the series. Gardiner will serve as showrunner and executive producer, while Mylod will direct multiple episodes and serve as executive producer.
