Damian Lewis (Billions), Tom Felton (Harry Potter), AND Ben Radcliffe (Lords of the Air) will be the protagonists of the British costume comedy Fackham Hall. They join what was previously announced Thomasin McKenzie, Catherine WaterstonAND Emma Laird.
The film is described as a comedy parody in the vein of Airplane! and the Monty Python movie. The story follows lovable pickpocket Eric Noone (Radcliffe) as he finds work at the English manor of Fackham Hall.
“He quickly rises through the ranks and a forbidden romance blossoms with landlady Rose Davenport (McKenzie). But when an unexpected murder occurs, Eric is framed, leaving the future of Rose and her family dangerously uncertain.
“Lewis will play the landlord Lord Davenport while Felton will play Archibald, Eric’s main rival for Rose’s hand.”
The film comes from the director Jim O’Hanlonand was created by the comedian Jimmy Carrwhich will also play a supporting role.
The director said in a statement: “I am so excited to begin principal photography Fackham Hall. We’ve assembled a stellar cast that would be the envy of any serious British period drama.
“This is doubly impressive given that we’re not actually a serious British period drama, but a hilarious, laugh-out-loud, snort-out-of-tea-out-of-your-nostrils British period comedy.
“Fortunately, our wonderful cast is as good at making audiences laugh as they are at making them cry, so we have the best of both worlds in one film! I can’t wait to get started.”
The film’s producers said in a joint statement: “We are thrilled to begin filming on what promises to be a hilarious and quintessentially British comedy.
“With this stellar cast and a razor-sharp script that only Jimmy Carr (along with the brilliant Dawson Brothers) could have imagined, this film will be a riot, combining wit, irreverence and a love of the absurd, from start to finish. . We look forward to bringing this unique parody to life and ultimately to audiences around the world!”
Writer Carr added: “Future generations of film students will mention ‘Fackham Hall’ in the same sentence as Merchant Ivory. And that phrase will be “Fackham Hall” was an insult to Merchant Ivory.”
Principal photography on the film begins this week in the UK. Bleecker Street will release the film in the United States in 2025
