New movie posters and musical soundtrack for Disney’s MUFASA: THE LION KING

Some new movie posters and a featurette all about the Disney musical soundtrack Mufasa: The Lion King have been revealed and give us another new look at the world they’ve built in this prequel tale.

The press release accompanying these new images and behind-the-scenes video states:

December has finally arrived, bringing with it the highly anticipated big screen debut of Mufasa: The Lion King on December 20th!

To celebrate, a new “Music of Mufasa” featurette and exhibition posters are now available, and Walt Disney Records reveals a December 13 release date for Disney songs and deluxe versions only. Mufasa: The Lion King original soundtrack from the film. THE Mufasa: The Lion King the film’s original soundtrack is available to pre-add and pre-order now.

The original songs were written by Lin-Manuel Mirandaand produced by the Grammy Award winner Marco Mancina and Miranda, with additional music and performances by Lebo M. Miranda said:

The Lion King has an incredible musical legacy with music from some of the greatest songwriters around, and I’m honored and proud to be a part of it. It was a joy to work alongside Barry Jenkins to bring Mufasa’s story to life, and we can’t wait for audiences to see this film in theaters.”

The album was produced by Miranda, Mancina and Grammy Award winner and president of Walt Disney Music Tom MacDougall. The score, which will be included in the Deluxe version of the soundtrack, was composed by the Tony Award winner and composer Dave Metzger.

Tickets are now on sale for “Mufasa: The Lion King,” which explores the unlikely rise of the beloved king of the Pride Lands. Rafiki passes on the legend of Mufasa to the young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature piece.

Told in flashback, the story presents Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a friendly lion named Taka, the heir to a royal line.

The chance meeting sets in motion a long journey of an extraordinary group of misfits in search of their destiny: their bonds will be tested as they work together to escape a menacing and deadly enemy.

The film features a roster of stellar talent, including Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Giovanni Cani, Tiffany Boone, Kagiso Lediga, Preston Nymann, Mads Mikkelsen, Thanks Newton, Lennie James, Anika Noni Rose, Keith David, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Donald Glover, Blue Ivy Carter, Braelyn Rankins, Theo Somolu, Folake Olowofoyeku, Joanna Jones, So Mbedu, Sheila Atim, Abdul Salis, Dominique Jennings AND Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.

Combining live filmmaking techniques with photorealistic computer-generated imagery, the brand-new feature film is directed by Barry Jenkinsproduced by Adele Romanski and Mark Ceryak, and executive produced by Peter Tobyansen.
