Anne Hathaway reunites with director Michael Showalter to adapt the novel VERITY by Colleen Hoover

After the success of Amazon’s romantic drama The idea of ​​youhis star Anne Hathaway and director Michael Showalter are collaborating on a new adaptation.

Hathaway has signed on to star in Amazon MGM Studios’ next film Truthwhich Showalter is directing. Based on the #1 bestseller 1 of the New York Times by Colleen Hoover (It ends with us), the current script is written by Nick Antosca.

Previous drafts were written by Hillary Seitz, Angela LaManna, Will Honley and April Maguire. Sources say the film will release in theatres.

The story follows Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who is on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling thriller author Verity Crawford (Hathaway), has hired Ashleigh to complete the remaining books in a best-selling series that his wife was unable to finish after a mysterious accident.

Upon arriving at the luxurious Crawford estate, Ashleigh slowly learns that things are not exactly as they seem thanks to the discovery of a secret, unfinished manuscript that could reveal chilling admissions about the family’s past.

As Lowen ingratiates himself with Jeremy and his young son Crew, he must figure out whether Verity’s writings are simply lurid works of fiction or an ominous warning from a deranged psychopath.

Truth was self-published in 2018 and became a phenomenon acquired by Grand Central Publishing in 2021. It remained on the bestseller list for months, selling more than 1 million copies in 2023 alone. The novel is a gothic, psychosexual thriller in the vein of Rebecca AND Gone girl.
