James Gunn confirms that the new Batman movie THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD is still moving forward

There have been many rumors about the future of Batman and the DCU. There have been reports that The Batman the franchise would be incorporated into the DCU and reports that The brave and the bold was going through some problems behind the scenes.

Well, co-head of DC Studios James Gunn is clarifying some things. While speaking to Omelete, Gunn confirmed, “We’re moving forward for now Brave and boldit’s happening right now and Matt is writing Batman 2 and this is happening right now.”

This seems like a clear indication that these two Batman projects are both happening and that they will be completely separate. So, don’t expect it Robert Pattinson to join this rebooted DCU franchise.

This whole rumor never made much sense to me or the rest of the fans, so it’s nice to have some clarification on it.

As for the film’s release date, Gunn told Collider: “There’s no set timeline for anything. The one thing I’ve tried to make clear to people from the beginning, in the way I hope we’ll be different, is that everything in DC will be based on the writers. Until we have a script that I’m totally happy with, that movie won’t get made, whatever it is.

Gunn was also asked when we’ll see the first film Superman trailer and, smiling, replied: “It won’t be long.”

Andy Muschietti will be directed by and will introduce the new DCU version of Batman. The project is inspired by Grant Morrisonis the series of the famous Batman comics and will focus on Bruce Wayne’s relationship with his biological son, Damian Wayne. Batman: The Brave and the Bold it is said to be one of Gunn and Safran’s favorite projects.

Speaking previously about this project, Gunn said: “So this is the introduction of Batman DCU, Bruce Wayne, and also the introduction of our favorite Robin, Damian Wayne, who is a little son of a bitch, murderous assassin, who he unintentionally picks up, who is the real son of Batman that he didn’t know existed for the first 8-10 years of his life, and brings him into his life and that’s a story. It’s kind of a very strange father-son story between the two of them.”
