Sony Pictures has got a new movie project on the way Godzilla minus one director Takashi Yamazaki titled Grampa. He is set to write and direct the film JJ Abrams and Bad Robot production.
The film will mark Yamazaki’s first English-language film, but unfortunately we have no plot details to share with you.
As you can imagine, after the success of Godzilla minus oneeveryone in Hollywood wants to do business with Yamazaki, and once word got out that his first English-language film was on the market, offers from studios came in quickly.
Sony ultimately won, and a number of factors came into play, including the studio’s commitment to a theatrical release and Sony’s close ties to Japan through its parent company.
I love that Yamazaki is developing an original film project like this and I can’t wait to see what comes of it.
Yamazaki will also return to Toho to write and direct another Godzilla film, which thrilled all Godzilla fans.
