Tom Cruise had a stunt double in a scene you won’t believe MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE: THE FINAL SURRENDER

One job in Hollywood that seems particularly boring is that of a stunt double Tom Cruise. The actor is famous for performing his own stunts in films such as Top Gun: nonconformist and his Mission: impossible franchising.

He is a collaborator Christopher McQuarriewho directed the last M:I films and wrote many others for Cruise, including Maverick, The Mummy, Jack ReachAND Edge of tomorrowconstantly works with the actor to push the limits of his stunts and show viewers beautiful and emotional moments.

So it might come as a surprise that while Cruise and McQuarrie were working on their next final chapter, Mission: Impossible: The Final Showdownthere was a scene where Cruise stepped in and brought in his hired stunt double.

You might think it should be a scene that tops his previous scenes as he exits a plane or rides a motorcycle off a cliff. But the scene actually involved the character Ethan Hunt turning some pages of a book.

In a report by The Mirror, the outlet said:

“They had a stand-in to move on. We did this to give a break to Tom, who is exhausted – he worked so hard to finish the film. But I’m not sure how moving on would have added to that.

The incident was discussed on Capital FM’s Capital Breakfast programme, where co-host Siân Welby spoke about the rumors surrounding the film and the scene in which Ethan Hunt is simply seen turning the pages of a book:

“He does all his own stunts, right? But in this film he hired a body double. That’s because it’s probably one of the deadliest things I’ve had to do.

What’s the one thing Tom Cruise won’t risk getting? A paper cut. He hired a stunt double to turn the page for him in this new film. That’s the one thing he won’t do.”

This is obviously a silly interpretation. Cruise definitely isn’t afraid of paper cuts. But it stands to reason that if he needed some down time while shooting the movie, or felt tired or unhappy, he would tell them to go ahead and shoot a mundane scene like reading a book so he could rest for the scenes he would have to face. it really matters to him.

Mission: Impossible – The final showdown will hit theaters on May 23, 2025. We’ll have to keep our eyes peeled for Cruise’s fearless stunt double in the film!
