Marvel TV boss Brad Winderbaum recently talked about the future of Charlie Coxit’s Daredevil and Jon BernthalThe Punisher after the events of the next series Daredevil: Born Again.
While a guest on the Phase Hero podcast, Winderbaum was asked if he sees a future for The Punisher in the MCU, to which he responded:
“He’s fantastic in that role and I can’t wait for you to see him on screen in this series, then there’s absolutely a future for him in the MCU.”
He then went on to talk about the future of the Daredevil series by saying that he sees a long run for it: “I think it’s a series that can last multiple seasons.”
He explained that the “intricate” New York setting they created for the show is very similar game of Thrones as “there are simply multiple factions vying for power in really complex ways.”
Winderbaum goes on to say that he doesn’t think audiences are ready for Daredevil: Born Again, explaining, “I actually don’t think audiences are ready for Daredevil: Born Again, it goes so deep into these characters.
“It’s one of the most violent things we’ve put on screen, but it’s in service of a bigger tragedy that’s really compelling.”
Well, I like the way it sounds! I think fans are ready because it’s the kind of storytelling we’ve been waiting for from Marvel Studios!
He previously teased some of the action in the series, saying, “I’ll tell you, some of the most brutal action we’ve ever brought to the screen is coming.” Daredevil: Born Againwhich isn’t a horror show, but it actually packs a lot of power and there’s a lot of visceral action, to say the least.
He also shared, “These characters have matured, the universe is different than it was. Things have changed, society has changed. Matt and Wilson have changed.
“And their characters will collide in ways we’ve never seen before. It’s no longer enough to try to kill each other. There is a whole political game at stake.”
The official synopsis reads: “Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer with high skills, is fighting for justice through his bustling law practice, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their identities Past stories begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.”
Daredevil: Born Again is currently under development by the administrators Justin Benson AND Aaron Moorheadwho worked on both Knight of the Moon AND Loki.
The series is also the protagonist Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter, e Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Marianna-Fisk.
It’s also in the cast Margherita Levieva, Michele Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Jeremy Earl, and more.
Daredevil: Born Again will arrive on Disney+ on March 4, 2025.
