Netflix has released a trailer for its supernatural animated series titled Jentry Chau against the Underworldand it looks like a spooky and fun sight!
The horror-comedy series centers on Jentry Chau (Ali Wong), “a Chinese-American teenager living in a small Texas town, who discovers that a demon king is hunting her for the supernatural powers she has worked her whole life to suppress.
“With the help of his weapons-savvy great-aunt and a thousand-year-old jiangshi (leaping Chinese vampire), Jentry must now battle the monsters of an entire underworld while balancing the horrors of high school.”
The series comes from Echo Wu and this is his very first series. She shared in a statement, “Sometimes finding your identity means coming face to face with your demons. There are different levels to what that means.
“It seems quite true in Jentry. She’s trying to figure out what these powers mean to her. Are they part of her? Are they cursing her? You see this character trying to figure out who he is.”
The project was developed at the Titmouse animation studio (The Venture Bros., Star Trek: Lower Decks, Scavengers Reign) and the voice cast includes Bowen Yang, Lori Tan Chinn, Lucia Liu, Jimmy O. Yang, Sheng Wang, Woosung KimAND AJ Beckles.
Netflix will debut the series on December 5, 2024.
