Neil Druckmann has great hopes for the last season 3

It was a surprise when Neil Druckmanncreator of The last of us And the co-creator of the successful adaptation of the HBO announced that he was moving away from the series after the second season.

The fans immediately wondered if something bigger is happening behind the scenes, but since then Druckmann has clarified that its exit did not concern the drama. After spreading between TV and games for years, he felt that it was time to re -enter the video games leaving the show in the hands very capable of Craig Mazin.

In a recent interview with Variety, Druckmann has opened more on his departure and where he sees The last of us Third season.

“My hope for the third season, and what I would like to think I can contribute to the best, is to make sure that it is deeply faithful as the first season because I feel like it is the Gold Standard for this type of adaptation, while I enjoy all these beautiful expansions that naturally occur with the rest of the team and the way they work in the third season. So it is where my involvement will remain very high.”

This aligns with what we have heard of the direction of the third season. Just like the video game, the story should move towards Abby, which will be played Kaitlyn Dever. Druckmann has also made fun of that next season it will not be the final chapter for the franchise as a whole.

“With the show, my hope is that we will end up this story in a deeply faithful way, in the same way we started, and this will be the end for this version of the story.

“But this is not the end of the last of us for the bad dog,” he said. “This does not necessarily mean that it will happen at home or outside: we are in negotiations to do more things.”

Here’s where things become really interesting. Druckmann has already said that Naughty Dog is not going with a third Last game of us Although he considered him after part II. So what could these “multiple things” be? New spin -Off TV? Comic books? An animated series? For now Druckmann is silent.

Regardless of this, fans can look forward to the third season that transport the same loyalty and the emotional weight of the first season, with Druckmann that still keeps a hand in modeling history from afar.

What do you think these new projects could be? Would you like spin -Off that explore other corners of the last universe we or do you think it is better to let the main story alone be?
