Head of HBO Casey Bloys recently responded game of Thrones Creator George R. R. Martinthe criticism of House of the Dragon season 2 and said that working with the writer is like going through a difficult marriage.
In a now-deleted post, Martin shared his thoughts on House of the Dragon The second season and the elements he wasn’t satisfied with. It was clear that Martin was frustrated with the way the series handled the Blood and Cheese scene and the removal of Helaena’s son.
He also said: “There will be bigger and more toxic butterflies coming House of the Dragon moves forward with some of the changes planned for seasons 3 and 4…”
Bloys responded to Martin’s comments by saying, “It’s very important to me, to us. But when we put shows together, it’s like putting a wedding together. Marriages can be difficult, especially when [showrunner] Ryan Condal it’s making creative decisions and adapting the work. It can be complicated.
“Any marriage can become difficult. I’d rather we all get along, obviously. But in the creative process we will always have obstacles. This is to be expected.”
HBO had previously released a statement saying, “Commonly, when adapting a book for the screen, with its format and limitations, the showrunner is ultimately required to make difficult choices about the characters and stories audiences will follow .
“We believe that Ryan Condal and his team have done an extraordinary job and that the millions of fans the series has amassed in the first two seasons will continue to appreciate it.”
While Martin may not like directing House of the Dragon is going, there are many fans who are enjoying the show.
