Last week it was revealed that Netflix League of Legends animated series, Arcaneit is the most expensive animated series ever produced. The 18 episodes reportedly cost $250 million to make.
As I said before, you see all that money on the screen when you watch the series with its strong storytelling and stunning visuals.
Showrunner Cristiano Linke recently spoke about the high budget and explained it, telling GamesRadar+: “First of all, the figure is not exactly correct. That figure includes marketing costs associated with the release, which are not part of Arcane’s budget.”
Linke goes on to defend the budget, saying, “Arcane is a really expensive animated series, and that was the point. Our dream was to create an animated series that was true to what you see in animated films.”
Showrunner Alex Yee he continued saying it Arcane it’s “the length of several films. If you compare us to animated films, we are very cheap.”
They also reveal what the money was used for, i.e. talent and quality. Lee said: “There are voice actors, where we really tried to find great talent.
“There are artists that we wanted to have the time to really be able to put their own spin on and have so many different disciplines really be able to do their best and show what they could do. In many ways, the money is just a reflection of the amount of effort that has gone into achieving this goal.”
Set designer Jason Schrier he also spoke about the cost of the show, saying: “Let this set the standard if you want art and quality. Perfection takes time and resources.
“Every frame of Arcane is truly a painting, nuanced to the level I believe our audience deserves. Using the medium of animation to be expressive and to tell incredible, larger-than-life stories.”
It’s great that this creative team has put in the time, effort and money to develop a top-notch animated series that fans and audiences will enjoy and enjoy.
The first three episodes of Arcane The second season is now on Netflix. The second act debuts on November 16 and the third act, the final act, will be released on November 23.
