A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) was directed by Wes Craven and the story is set in the quiet town of Springwood, Ohio, where a group of teenagers are haunted in their dreams by a burnt-out, knife-gloved killer named Freddy.
While they sleep, Freddy appears in their nightmares, wielding his powers to manipulate their dreams and kill them in ways that carry over fatally into the real world.
Over the course of the film, Nancy discovers that Freddy was a child killer killed by his parents in a context of vigilante justice. Now, Freddy seeks revenge on the children of his killers, and Nancy must find a way to cope and survive Freddy’s deadly and surreal dreamscape.
