Director Matt Reeves’ The Batman (2022) was a box office success that fans thoroughly enjoyed, and it didn’t take long for the studio to greenlight its sequel.
Not only did the film have the basis to continue, but it was also quickly established that MAX would embark on a spin-off series to further explore Colin Farrellthe character Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin. But this isn’t the only character who could get the spotlight outside of the movies.
A new rumor coming from the Marvelvision podcast, hosted by film blogger Derek Faraci and former critic Devin Faraci (via /Film), claims that WB is looking ahead to future plans for the Joker, played by Barry Keoghansome of which could include a Joker-focused spin-off series, which would lead to a major appearance in the film third Movie “Batman”.
In the podcast, Devin Faraci says, “Warner Bros. has apparently been talking to Barry Keoghan about returning to ‘The Batman’ franchise, and from what I understand, I don’t know if he’s there.” [‘The Batman: Part II’] or not, but he is the main villain of [‘The Batman: Part III’].
“And the reason they’re seriously discussing it is because the plan is to make a Joker-oriented series that connects “II” and “III” the way “The Penguin” connects. [‘The Batman’] AND [‘The Batman: Part II’].”
It’s just a rumor for now, but it makes perfect sense. Keoghan was fantastic in the role, he’s a fantastic actor and Warner Bros. has never seen the last great Joker (Heath Ledger) takes on Batman completely.
So I bet this has some merit and I’m excited to see what the future has in store for this character and the franchise as a whole.
