Nicholas Hoult on losing the role of Batman to Robert Pattinson; Says it was an ’emotional blow’

Robert Pattinson He plays a perfect Bruce Wayne Matt Reeves’ The Batmanbut it’s always interesting to hear what other actors were in the running for the parts, after all is said and done.

In this case, Nicola Hoult had thrown his hat into the ring, and had a lot going against him, as he didn’t even get to read for the part until Pattinson was already on Reeves’ shortlist.

Hoult revealed on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast that he was driving in Los Angeles when he heard on the radio that Pattinson was the best choice for the lead role in the film.

It was a shock for the actor, considering he was supposed to audition for Batman next weekend. As we all know, Hoult ultimately lost the role to Pattinson.

Hoult said of the leak: “I remember a week before I did the Batman test, I was driving in the car and I had the radio on and they were talking on the radio about how Rob was going to be the new Batman. And I thought, ‘This isn’t confirmed yet!” I’ll audition next weekend. Give me a chance.”

“Yes, of course, it’s an emotional blow. Your imagination doesn’t know… you’re aware on a practical level: ‘I know I’m auditioning against Rob.’ And Rob is amazing in that movie. This was the right decision. But you get excited by the prospect.

“Opaque [Reeves] it’s a fantastic director and script. It’s an amazing movie and I want to be a part of it. He’s a brilliant character. There’s a weird period before you can get to acceptance and see the movie and be like, it was the right choice, you go through the period of ‘what could I have done differently? Why not me?” You go through all that stuff.

Hoult said that auditioning for a major role in a comic book is “very emotionally demanding,” especially since casting rumors and contenders are now being reported into real-time operations.

Hoult may have missed out on Batman, but he’s getting a chance to star in a major comic book movie thanks to his role as Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s upcoming “Superman.”

The actor originally auditioned for Superman before he and Gunn realized a better fit might have been the iconic villain. Hoult credited Gunn with making the “Superman” audition process smooth. Hoult said:

“James Gunn is a fantastic director and I was really excited about what he was building at DC. When we talked… because they knew I was through [the Batman] process, they didn’t want me to necessarily have to go through it again.

“It was very kind of them. There was an element where they said, ‘We like you as an actor. We want you to be in this world.’”

I’m a fan of Nicholas Hoult. He was so good About a boy, Warm bodiesAND Renfieldamong many other roles. I think he’ll make it in Superman, and I can’t wait to see what else he does in his career.
