A new report has surfaced regarding the next episode of the James Bond franchising. 12 Years a Slave director Steve McQueen he is reportedly up for directing work.
Fans were hoping to see Christopher Nolan join the franchise and there were some rumors about it, but he denied any involvement, although he expressed interest.
The report states: “Steve is one of the UK’s best directors and has incredible vision. It is said that the Bond producers wanted to see if Steve would ever consider taking part in one of the films and they got a positive response. It would be incredible if it came out.”
McQueen recently directed the film Blitz, starring Saoirse Ronan, and has also directed Widows and Occupied City. McQueen was nominated for Best Director at the Oscars and took home the gold for Best Picture.
The new report also claims that casting for the next Bond has “recommenced,” but there’s no word on who might step into Craig’s shoes.
When previously we talked about the franchise, about the producer Barbara Broccoli says they’ve only just scratched the surface of the next iteration of Bond, and that there’s “a big way to go.” He also explained that the iconic character will have to be “reinvented for the next chapter.”
“I go back to GoldenEye when everyone said ‘the cold war is over, the wall is over, Bond is dead, there’s no need for Bond, the whole world is at peace and now there are no more bad guys’ – and boy, do I I was wrong!
“Daniel gave us a chance to delve into the emotional life of the character… and the world was ready for that too. I think these films reflect the moment they’re in, and there’s a great, great way forward for reinventing it for the next chapter and we haven’t even started with that.”
What do you think about the possibility of McQueen speaking in the next episode? Link movie?
