Drew Goddard will produce a coming-of-age mystery comedy series PHONY with Connie Britton in the lead role

Drew Goddardthe writer behind it The cabin in the woods AND The Martianis developing a coming-of-age mystery comedy series for Hulu titled False.

Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights, American Horror Story) will also star in the series and will executive produce alongside Nick Paley (Marcel The Shell With Shoes On).

Phony tells the story of a teenager named Sonny, “who wakes up in the hospital after a car accident to find that his mother – his only parent and best friend – appears to have been replaced by an impostor.”

Britton will play Sonny’s single mom, Ellen, and the principal of his high school.

It looks like it will be a fun series and the talent involved ensures that it will be a well-made show that will entertain audiences.

Goddard recently wrote the next science fiction film Ave Maria projectwhich is directed by Phil Lord AND Chris Miller and stars Ryan Gosling.

Britton recently starred in Apple TV+’s Dear Edward. He also starred in the first season of Mike White’s HBO series, The White Lotus.
