Here’s a great blood filled poster for Stanley Kubrick’S The Shining One titled “Ghosts of the Overlook.” It was created by artist Kris Miklos for the Hero Complex Gallery and features all the ghosts that haunt the Overlook Hotel.
There is a regular edition with the blood red coloring and a variant edition that gives the art a black and white tone.
Kubrick’s The Shining One is a psychological horror film adapted from Stephen King’s novel. It follows Jack Torrance, an aspiring writer who takes a job as the winter caretaker of the secluded Overlook Hotel, bringing with him his wife Wendy and son Danny.
As they settle into the creepy hotel, Danny begins to have disturbing visions due to his psychic abilities, known as “the shine.”
Meanwhile, Jack slowly descends into madness, influenced by the hotel’s malevolent forces. His psychological unraveling leads to terrifying consequences for his family as the hotel’s dark history manifests itself in terrifying ways.
The film is a horror classic thanks to its masterful combination of eerie atmosphere, disturbing imagery, and Kubrick’s meticulous direction. The film’s slow build of tension, paired with Jack Nicholson’s iconic portrayal of Jack Torrance, creates an intense sense of dread.
The Overlook Hotel itself becomes a character, with its vast empty spaces, labyrinthine layout and ghostly inhabitants. Kubrick’s use of symmetrical shots, long tracking shots, and haunting soundtrack heighten the claustrophobia and terror.
The Shining One is one of the most influential and enduring films of the horror genre.
