James Gunn says his DCU will incorporate moments from the DCEU, making them canon

James Gunn The DCU is going to get a little messier as it tries to incorporate moments from the DCEU into the new DC Cinematic Universe it’s building.

Gunn’s DCU was supposed to be an entirely new DC franchise that isn’t connected to any of the previous films made, but apparently there will be some connections.

While speaking at a New York Comic Con panel, Gunn says he revealed that some elements from the previous universe will be canon in this new universe.

He said: “There are references to things that happened in the past, and those references then become canon in the DCU because we mention them.”

As Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and more are rebooted, Gunn’s The suicide squad AND Peacemaker they’re definitely going through this new universe, and maybe that’s what he’s referring to.

The first project to be released by DC Studios is Commando of creatureswhich is connected in a way to the Suicide Squad. We also know that Blue Beetle will be part of Gunn’s new DC universe.

As for the Man of Steel, Justice League, The Flash, Wonder WomanAND Aquaman movies, I don’t think any of these will be mentioned in the DCU. Things would get pretty confusing if they were, though.

I think it would have been better if Gunn had taken a clean break from everything that had come before. But as long as Gunn is telling great stories, I think fans will embrace the new direction.
