Peter Dinklage is set to star next Channing Tatum AND Kirsten Dunst in the next true crime film Roofman.

The film is based on the true story of Jeffrey Manchester, “an escaped convict who hides in a place where no one would look for him: a toy store.

“When this paradise of fun becomes a prison of loneliness, he falls for the only thing that can keep him from escaping… love.”

The film is described as telling the “extraordinary story of Jeffrey Manchester, an eccentric and charming serial robber who broke into more than 60 McDonald’s restaurants overnight through their roofs, then emptied the cash register the morning after rounding up the personnel in the freezers.

“The former U.S. Army Reserve officer became known as the ‘Rooftop Robber’ or ‘Roofman’ and was known for his gentle demeanor and rare resort to violence.

“Manchester was convicted and imprisoned in 2000, then escaped prison and then evaded capture by holing up for months at a Toys ‘r Us and Circuit City store in North Carolina.

“He lived on baby food and rode his bicycle to the toy store for exercise. After reportedly leaving his fingerprints on a Catch me if you can DVD in electronics store, was recaptured and sent back to prison. The film will focus on Manchester’s months-long odyssey on the run.”

The film was written and directed by Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine’s Day) and the project is set up at Miramax with distribution by Paramount Pictures.

Dinklage was most recently seen in the Amazon comedy MGM Studios Brotherswith Josh Brolin AND Brendan Frasier. He was also recently seen in Tubi’s photo The Grove and will voice Professor Dillamond in Universal’s Wicked adaptation coming out next month.
