Ryan Murphy’S Monster anthology series, which told the story of Jeffrey Dahmer in season one and the Menendez brothers in the recent second season, has expanded its cast list for season three. Last month it was revealed that Charlie Hunnam will lead the third season as the infamous serial killer Ed Gein. Now we have a few more actors added to the cast list.
Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne) will play Gein’s mother, Augusta, Tom Hollander (Feud) will be played Alfred HitchcockAND Olivia Williams (The crown) will play Alma Reville, Hitchcock’s wife.
As Gein was one of the inspirations for Norman Bates and Hitchcock’s film Psychoit would appear that the third season of the hit Netflix anthology will delve into how Gein’s crimes influenced the film and the novel on which the film is based.
Gein became famous in the 1950s when authorities discovered that he had not only killed multiple people, but had also dug up graves from a cemetery near his home and fashioned all manner of household items and clothing from human remains.
I like the direction it’s taking. Not only will we get the story of Gein, but also one of the most famous films inspired by him.
